Drew Salamon Moves To iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region As Regional VP/Sales

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
September 29, 2017

iHeartMedia Layoffs 2017 Bo Matthews Britta BrodyiHeartMedia has transferred its Pittsburgh Region Senior VP/Sales Drew Salamon to its Virginia-Carolina Region in the same role.

Salamon had spent his entire career at iHeart Pittsburgh moving up the ranks to Director of Sales, Senior VP/Sales, and then Regional Senior VP/Sales since starting in 1998. His father, Ed Salamon, was the former programmer of WEEP Pittsburgh and WHN New York who later co-founded and led programming for United Stations Radio Networks through its evolution into Unistar and then acquisition by Westwood One.

In his new role Salamon will relocate to Charlotte and fill the opening created by Keith Hotchkiss’ promotion to North Ohio Region President.

iHeartMedia announced today that Drew Salamon has been named Region Vice President of Sales for its Virginia-Carolina Region, effective immediately. iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than 53 stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.

iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Region Vice President of Sales, Salamon will oversee sales efforts in the Virginia-Carolina Region, including on-air and digital sales, promotions and live event sponsorships. He will be based out of the Charlotte Market and will report to Dave Carwile, Region President for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region.

“Drew is a natural leader and has a proven track record of success in this role,” said Carwile. “His experience as the Region Senior Vice President of Sales in iHeartMedia’s Pittsburgh Region, oversight of sales efforts with world championship teams like Pittsburgh Steelers Radio Network, back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion, Pittsburgh Penguins Radio Network and his tremendous passion for helping clients grow their business makes Drew the perfect choice for this important role.”

Salamon joins the Virginia-Carolina Region from the Pittsburgh Region, where he most recently served as the Region Vice President of Sales. He also served as the Senior Vice President of Sales for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh, Director of Sales for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Gannon University.

“The Virginia Carolina team is one of the best in the country,” said Salamon. “I look forward to working with the team and helping our advertising partners connect with their communities and grow their businesses.”

iHeartMedia is a leading media outlet in the Virginia-Carolina Region with multiple platforms, including its broadcast stations; live events; data; and its digital businesses and platforms, including mobile, social and its own iHeartRadio, the leading all-in-one streaming music and live radio service – with more than 1.4 billion app downloads and 100 million registered users.
