iHeartMedia has announced a pair of partnerships with LG Electronics and mobile service provider TextNow.
iHeart’s radio streaming and podcasts will now be available on the LG Radio+ app on LG Smart TVs running webOS 6.0 and above as well as on LG’s xboom speakers. LG Electronics USA VP/MS Content and Services Matthew Durgin said, “With radio stations, podcasts and music being a vital companion in our daily lives, LG Radio+ makes it easier than ever to tune in to a curated list of audio streaming content. The integration of iHeartRadio’s massive content library coupled with LG’s innovative, high-quality technology truly embody our Life’s Good mantra.”
TextNow, which offers ad supported free mobile texting and calling plans, will add the iHeartRadio app to its Free Flex suite allowing users to use the app without data charges. TextNow CEO Derek Ting commented, “People don’t want their phone service locked into one rigid model anymore. At TextNow our mission is to make the old way of paying for a phone service obsolete. TextNow is continuing to find new ways to give customers more for free, and adding iHeartRadio to the Free Flex Plan is a perfect example of that in practice: more included, nothing owed. Music and streaming are part of everyday life, and this partnership is another step toward building a wireless experience that is more flexible, modern and built around how people actually use their phones.”
