Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
November 25, 2019

94.7 WLS-FM ChicagoNielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

All the numbers can be found at RadioInsight.com/Ratings.

Among the numbers of note for the October monthly:

  • For the first time in frequency history, Cumulus Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM has a piece of the top spot in Chicago. WLS-FM moves from fifth at a 4.8 to a 5.1 to land in a three-way tie with Entercom News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS and iHeartMedia R&B “V103” 102.7 WVAZ for the market lead. Previous leader Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX falls to sixth with a 4.4 share, while Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV placed fourth at 4.8 and iHeartMedia AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT fifth at 4.7.
  • A big trend up for Hubbard AC 100.3 WSHE Chicago with a three month trend of 2.9 – 3.4 – 4.1.
  • New York City was the model of consistence as no station in the top seven changed ranking position. iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW remains in the lead with a 7.1 share followed by Entercom Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM at a 5.9 and Emmis R&B 107.5 WBLS at 5.8.
  • With the month-long switch to the Pacifica Across America programming, 99.5 WBAI failed to register a listener in the New York monthly for the second straight month. WBAI held at a 0.1 in the Nassau/Suffolk market and dropped from 0.2 to 0.0 in Middlesex/Somerset/Union NJ.
  • Los Angeles was also stable at the top as Entercom Classic Hits “K-Earth 101.1” KRTH remained in the lead at a 5.9, iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST held at 5.2, and iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG in third with a 4.9 to 4.6 drop.
  • Entercom Sports 94.1 WIP Philadelphia rose 7.5 to 8.2 to retain the lead. A big jump for Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK to remain in second with a 6.6 to 7.5 rise. Entercom AC “B101.1” WBEB fell from a second place tie to sixth with its lowest PPM share ever of 5.4.
  • Cox Media News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB rises 8.2 to 9.3 to retain its Atlanta market lead. Entercom Urban “V103” WVEE holds second with a 5.9 to 6.5 rise.
  • The excitement in Atlanta in the coming months will be the Country battle between iHeartMedia’s “94.9 The Bull” WUBL and Cumulus’ “New Country 101.5” WKHX. In the final monthly prior to WKHX’ relaunch, the station rose from 2.4 to 3.0, while WUBL fell 4.3 to 3.8.
  • iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS returns to the lead in Dallas with a 6.5 to 6.2 drop. Salem Christian AC 94.9 KLTY falls to second with a full share drop from 6.6 to 5.6, while Cumulus’ “New Country 96.3” KSCS surges to third with a 3.6 to 4.9 gain.
