Magnum Media has flipped Classic Hits “Kool Gold 1460” WBOG Tomah/101.3 W267CO Sparta WI to Classic Country “BOG Country“.
The station will focus on music of the 80s through early 2000s and retain its contingent of local high school sports including basketball, football, hockey and wrestling. Robin Jon Olson will host mornings after spending the last two years working in sales/production for the Magnum Media cluster. Mike Olson will host afternoons from 3-6pm and John Tesh’s “Intelligence For Your Life” will be carried in evenings.
Magnum.Media has changed its WBOG format to 80’s, 90’s & Early 2000’s Country on 101.3 & AM 1460. The station will go by the nickname “BOG Country.”
Local native, Robin Jon Olson, who played his first Country record on the radio in 1980, and joined Magnum.Media in 2002, is returning to the airwaves to host Mornings from 5-9a. Robin Jon stated, “After two years focused on the sales and production side of radio, I’m excited about adding back to my duties being on the air. Hard to believe I played those 80’s Country songs as current hits, and now I get to play them again. A lot of great Country music came out in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. By focusing on this era of Country music, BOG Country isn’t in direct competition with another station in our market. As to the signal, we put the 101.3 translator on top of our 500’ TV tower which sits on one
of the highest ground elevation points in Wisconsin, so at 2,000’, it really sails.”While music is the fun part, WBOG will continue to be serious about being informative, too. Craig Otto delivers Local News and Sports, supplemented by 24 Hour National News and Sports, plus offerings from the Wisconsin Radio Network. Mike Olson will host Afternoons 3-6p and then it’s John Tesh with “Intelligence For Your Life.” BOG Country is also home to High School Football, Wrestling, Boy’s & Girl’s Basketball and Hockey. WBOG serves the 30+ demo.
In 1991, Dave & Lynn Magnum based the WBOG call letters on the prevalent cranberry bogs in the portion of Wisconsin the station serves. WBOG is clustered with sister radio stations Mix 96.1 & 107.3 WXYM, Classic Rock 94.5 WTMB and Class A TV station KQEG.
