Nielsen’s market size adjustments for Fall 2020 took effect this week. Of the day 3 markets Charlotte moves up two spots from #23 to #21, while Portland drops from #21 to #22. Orlando moves up from #31 to #29, Las Vegas holds at #30, while Pittsburgh falls from #29 to #31. Cincinnati drops from #32 to #33 falling behind Day 4 market Austin.

iHeartMedia AC “K103” KKCW has a Christmas fueled lead in Portland with an 8.2 to 10.5 jump. Public News/Talk 91.5 KOPB-FM surges up 8.3 to 9.9 for second. Alpha Media News/Talk 101.1 KXL drops 7.0 to 6.3, while Entercom Classic Rock 92.3 KGON drops 6.7 to 5.4.
Cox Media Group Classic Hits 101.1 KONO-FM San Antonio stays on top moving 7.7 to 7.5. iHeartMedia News/Talk 1200 WOAI drops 7.7 to 7.4. Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 92.9” KROM is surging up 5.5 – 6.3 – 7.3. iHeartMedia AC “Q101.9” KQXT sees a holiday powered jump from 3.5 to 5.8.
Trending downward in San Antonio is Cox Country “Y100” KCYY (5.6 – 4.9 – 4.5), while trending upward is Cox Oldies 860 KONO (1.3 to 2.1) with what ratings expert Chris Huff notes is its largest share since Fall 1992.
iHeartMedia News/Talk 1530 KFBK/93.1 KFBK-FM stays on top in Sacramento despite falling 9.1 to 7.8. Entercom Classic Rock “Eagle 96.9” KSEG drops 7.7 to 7.1. Christmas brings Bonneville AC “Mix 96” up 3.7 – 5.2 – 6.7. Bonneville Country 105.1 WNCI plummets 8.1 to 6.5, while their Hot AC “Now 100.5” KZZO jumps up 4.6 to 6.2.
Bonneville AC “FM 100” KSFI Salt Lake City rises from 6.7 to 11.5. Bonneville News/Talk 1160 KSL/102.7 KSL-FM holds in second with a 7.2 to 7.5 gain. iHeartMedia Conservative Talk 570 KNRS/105.9 KNRS-FM falls to third down 9.5 to 7.4.
Public News/Talk 90.1 KUER-FM sets a station record with a 4.6 to 5.7 rise.
Trending upward in Salt Lake City is Broadway Media CHR “Mix 105.1” KUDD (1.5 – 2.0 – 2.5). Heading downward are Bonneville Classic Rock “103.5 The Arrow” KRSP (6.4 – 5.5 – 4.9), Capitol Broadcasting AC “Now 97.9” KBZN (5.9 – 4.4 – 4.1) and Cumulus AC “B98.7” KBEE (3.0 – 2.1).
iHeartMedia AC “Magic 107.7” WMGF Orlando is the current clubhouse leader in share for the month as its Christmas music brings it up from an 8.3 to 13.3 share. Huff notes that is well above the 9.4 share it had in December 2019. Entercom Classic Hits “105.9 Sunny-FM” WOCL drops 10.3 to 9.2. iHeartMedia CHR “XL 106.7” WXXL places third 6.8 to 6.4.
Entercom Alternative “FM 101.9” WQMP slides down 3.0 to 2.0 for what Huff notes is its lowest share on that frequency since it was AC WCFI in Spring 1986, while Cox CHR “Power 95.3” WPYO slides 3.9 to 2.7 for its lowest showing since Fall 2003.
iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 106.5” KSNE leads Las Vegas with a Christmas bump from 5.6 to 8.9. Beasley Classic Hits 96.3 KKLZ trends downward 7.3 – 6.1 – 5.7. Lotus Regional Mexican “La Buena 101.9” KWID places third down 5.3 – 5.1. Faith Communications Christian AC 90.5 KSOS rises to fourth up 4.2 to 4.7. Both Hot ACs slide with Beasley’s “Star 107.9” KVGS down 5.0 to 4.4, while Entercom’s “Mix 94.1” KMXB slips 5.2 to 4.3.
Trending upward is Public News/Talk 88.9 KNPR-FM (2.8 – 3.0 – 3.7).
Thanks to the then undefeated mark of the Steelers, iHeartMedia Rock 102.5 WDVE Pittsburgh jumps 11.3 to 12.0 for what Huff notes is the largest share in the brand’s storied history. With Christmas music, iHeart’s Classic Hits “94.5 3WS” WWSW drops 9.0 to 8.6. Steel City Media Variety Hits “96.9 Bob-FM” WRRK places third up 7.8 to 8.0. Entercom Sports “93.7 The Fan” KDKA-FM rises 6.4 to 6.9, and sister Country “Y108” WDSY rebounds 4.1 to 5.1.
Renda AC “Wish 99.7” WSHH uses Christmas to rise 4.1 to 4.6. iHeartMedia Country “Big 104.7” WPGB trends downward 5.3 – 3.8 – 3.1. AAA 91.3 WYEP trends upwards 1.5 – 1.9 – 2.4.
iHeartMedia News/Talk 700 WLW takes the Cincinnati lead with a 9.2 to 9.4 rise. Cumulus Classic Hits 103.5 WGRR slips down 9.7 to 8.4, while sister AC “Warm 98” WRRM jumps 6.3 to 8.2.
Entercom Classic Rock 98.5 WNCX rises 8.9 to 10.1 to regain the Cleveland market lead. Radio One Adult R&B 93.1 WZAK trends up 6.4 – 8.2 – 9.1 for second, while the Christmas music Classic Hits “Majic 105.7” WMJI falls 9.4 to 7.9.
Cumulus Media Classic Rock “101 The Fox” KCFX Kansas City surges up over two shares 7.4 to 9.4. Carter Broadcasting Hip Hop “Hot 103 Jamz” KPRS-FM moves up to second 5.8 to 6.3. Cumulus Classic Hits 94.9 KCMO-FM drops 6.7 to 6.1. Public News/Talk 89.3 KCUR-FM trends up 4.2 – 5.2 – 5.5 for a station record.
The Country battle in Kansas City tightens. Entercom Country “106.5 The Wolf” WDAF-FM falls 6.5 to 5.5, Steel City Media’s 94.1 KFKF falls 5.9 to 5.4, while sister “Q104” KBEQ rises 4.6 to 4.9.

Public News/Talk 89.7 WOSU-FM Columbus surges 5.2 – 6.9 – 8.2 for what Huff notes is its largest share ever and the first time it has ever led the market. iHeartMedia News/Talk 610 WTVN falls 9.1 to 7.7, while iHeart’s CHR 97.9 WNCI (7.1 – 6.9) and Country 92.3 WCOL-FM (8.2 – 6.5) follow. iHeartMedia Variety Hits “93.3 The Bus” WODC jumps up 2.8 to 5.8 with Christmas music.
Following its flip to Alternative halfway through the monthly, iHeartMedia’s “105.7 Columbus Alternative” WXZX rises 0.8 to 1.1.
