Sandy Clough and Shawn Drotar Reunite At Mile High Sports

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
March 13, 2023

Mile High Sports Radio Denver 98.1 KQKS-HD3Mile High Sports has announced the addition of longtime Denver sports talk hosts Sandy Clough and Shawn Drotar to host a new show from 2-4pm weekdays on “Mile High Sports Radio” 98.1 K251CV Golden and 107.5 KQKS-HD3 Lakewood/Denver.

The duo each most recently worked at Bonneville’s “104.3 The Fan” KKFN where they hosted a 9pm-12am show until Clough’s “retirement” last September. Clough spent 25 years at KKFN in multiple roles since joining then 950 KKFN in 1997 spending time in every daypart. He has been heard in the market since 1979 when he joined 850 KOA’s Denver Broncos coverage and then worked at 1090 KYBG from 1990 to 1996. Drotar spent two stints at KKFN from 2012-16 and again from 2019 until last fall. In between he had an earlier tenure at Mile High Sports as Director of Digital Media and morning host. He has also hosted for SB Nation Radio and for multiple IT and digital media companies.

Sandy Clough and Shawn Drotar will return to the sports talk airwaves in Denver with a new two-hour weekday afternoon talk show Mile High Sports CEO Nate Lundy announced today.

“This is like a gift from the sports talk gods,” said Mile High Sports CEO Nate Lundy. “When the opportunity to work with two talented, intelligent talk show hosts falls in your lap you jump at the chance.”

Sandy & Shawn will debut today at 2pm on Mile High Sports Radio, 98.1 FM and 107.5 FM HD3. The show will also be simulcast with both audio and video at MileHighSports.com or in the Mile High Sports mobile app with on-demand podcasts available anytime. The show will air weekdays from 2pm to 4pm, leading into Afternoon Drive with Aniello Piro and Cody Roark.

“This is such a tremendous city for sports talk and the fans are some of the best in the country,” said Clough. “After spending a few short months on the sidelines, I realized that I missed spending part of my day with those fans. I’m not only happy to be back on the air, but thrilled to have Shawn again as my partner in crime.”

Clough’s 43-year on-air career in Denver has included stops with KOA, KYBG and KKFN. After starting his career at ESPN more than 25 years ago, Drotar’s been on-air in Denver for the last 11, with stops at KKFN and a previous stint with Mile High Sports.

“As a Colorado native, understanding the privilege — and the expectations — of hosting a sports-talk show in my own hometown has never been lost on me,” Drotar added. “To get back together with Sandy, the best that’s ever done it in Denver, is not only a treat, but gives us the opportunity to once again provide a completely unique perspective to fans about every single team along the Front Range.”

As Denver’s local, independent sports media outlet for over 20 years, Mile High Sports consists of Mile High Sports Magazine, radio, website, mobile app and social media network. The company also owns the state’s #1 high school sports site, ColoradoPreps.com, as well as the new Mile High Life network.
