For as long as I’ve been going to radio conventions, the one thing I always wondered was where is the radio?
At a couple of the now-defunct NAB Radio Shows, a handful of syndicated shows would broadcast live, but that was more about meeting current or potential affiliates. At podcast conventions, there’s always live podcast recordings, but never has there been a radio station dedicated to a convention.
That will change next month at NAB Show 2023.
What started last year as a suggestion to bring more people to their booth will come to fruition as The MaxxKonnect Group will launch “Maxx Radio” on April 1 with streaming services provided by SurferNetwork and will be heard throughout Las Vegas on Beasley Media Group’s 96.3 KKLZ-HD2 from April 10th though the end of the convention.
MaxxRadio will be a full-service station specifically spotlighting the radio industry at the convention. Programming will feature manufacturer and industry news and updates, as well as product information from radio industry manufacturers. Special radio-specific programming will include “Transmitter Talk Tuesday” with Nautel’s Jeff Welton, TWiRT with Kirk Harnack and more to be announced over the next few weeks.
I will be involved providing website and social media updates throughout the show as well as RadioInsight’s industry news updates. News coverage will also include RadioWorld Editor-In-Chief Paul McLane providing daily updates from the show floor.
MaxxRadio programming is being led by Isis M. Jones. Jones joins MaxxRadio with over three decades of industry experience mostly in Birmingham and St. Louis. Jones and MaxxKonnect’s Chris Roth will also be anchoring live programming during the show.
The goal of MaxxRadio is to spotlight where radio is now and what it can be in the future. To showcase some of the great tools being provided to broadcasters and the people making it special.
In addition to MaxxRadioNow.com and KKLZ-HD2, we will making much of our content leading up to and during NAB Show available on-demand on the website and on all podcasting platforms.

Joining MaxxRadio as Program Director will be Isis M. Jones. Jones joins MaxxRadio with over three decades of industry experience. Her previous stops include WATV, WBHK & WBHJ in Birmingham, as well as WFUN & WHHL, St. Louis. She currently hosts the show #Room1420 on YouTube and Facebook. Joining Jones on the programming team will be MaxxKonnect Group Sales Manager for Wireless & Connectivity Products Chris Roth as Imaging and Production Director. Roth previously held Production Director duties for 103.5 WTOP Washington DC and has programmed at multiple stations including WIAD Washington and WWMY Raleigh.
