Alpha Media has appointed J Love as Operations Manager for “Bay Country 94.5” KBAY Gilroy/92.1 KKDV Walnut Creek and Hot AC “Mix 106.5” KEZR San Jose starting August 1. He will lead content and strategy for both stations.
J Love most recently served as PD/midday host at Audacy Hot AC “Mix 94.1” KMXB Las Vegas from 2012 until being part of the company’s March layoffs. He began his career in San Jose as Assistant Music Director and night host at CHR “Hot 97.7” KHQT from 1993 to 1995 and later served as PD of KNEV/KWYL Reno and WWKX Providence, APD of KSCF San Diego, Music Director of KMVQ San Francisco, and APD/MD of WKQI Detroit, WEZB New Orleans, and WFBC-FM Greenville.
He commented, “This move is full circle for me, San Jose is where I started my radio career, so stepping into this role truly feels like coming home. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work in some incredible markets—Greenville, New Orleans, Detroit, Providence, Oxnard, San Francisco, Reno, and most recently Las Vegas at Mix 94.1—but there’s nothing quite like coming back to the Bay. I’m incredibly grateful to both the Connoisseur and Alpha leadership for trusting me with this opportunity. I’m ready to hit the ground running—I’m here to elevate these brands in ways that connect, inspire, and resonate locally.”
Market Manager David Drutz commented, “We’re thrilled to welcome J. Love back to San Jose. His energy, creativity, and track record of success make him the perfect fit to guide the next chapter of Mix and Bay Country.”
Love fills the opening created by Bo Matthews’ exit as SVP/Programming last July as part of Alpha’s own cuts last year.
