FCC Actions
Two of the licenses held by Steve Hegwood’s Core Communicators have been issued Orders to Pay or to Show Cause by the FCC for unpaid filing fees. The FCC says 94.5 WIPK Calhoun GA owes $21,830.15 for fees due from 2015 through 2025. 93.5 WMRG Morgan/Albany GA owes $6,538.67 for 2015 and 2020 through 2024. Both stations have sixty days to pay or show why the regulatory fees were inapplicable to them or should otherwise be waived or deferred.
Sovereign Communications have been issued an Order to Pay or to Show Cause for failure to pay delinquent regulatory fees at its seven stations in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Sovereign owes a combined $37,250.51 for unpaid fees and interest from 2021 through 2024 at 93.9 WNBY-FM Newberry, 99.5 WYSS Sault Sainte Marie, 101.3 WSUE Sault Sainte Marie, 105.5 WMKD Pickford, 1230 WSOO Sault Sainte Marie, 1400 WKNW Sault Sainte Marie, and 1450 WNBY Newberry MI

License Cancellations
The FCC has terminated the license of Vision Media Group’s 1420 KFYN Bonham TX noting that it sent a letter in December noting that KFYN had been operating from an unauthorized location or was silent with and without special temporary authority since October 14, 2023. KFYN was granted a CP in 2022 to operate from a new location but failed to complete and submit proof of performance and therefore never obtained authority to operate from the new location pursuant to program test authority with its STA expiring on 10/14/23. The letter of inquiry had gone unanswered. KFYN was the legal parent of 103.9 K280GZ Bonham as Classic Hits “Rewind 103.9“.
After taking 1280 KSLI Abilene TX off the air last March, Townsquare Media has surrendered the station’s license. Townsquare though intends to repurpose KSLI’s transmitter site (see below).
