SiriusXM will launch Punk Rock focused “Green Day’s Idiot Nation” on channel 314 on Monday, April 20.
The station is described as “a true extension of the band’s lifelong relationship with punk rock. With decades spent at the top of their game, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool bring a deeply personal, artist-driven perspective to the channel, hand-selecting the music and sharing the stories behind it.” The station will include “everything from Green Day’s earliest demos, covers and live recordings to their biggest, stadium-shaking anthems, alongside essential punk tracks spanning generations, from genre-defining pioneers to new noise from up-and-coming bands.”
Tré Cool will host a monthly show “Ground Support” focusing on other bands Green Day has toured with with music and stories. The band commented, “We’re absolutely stoked to have our very own channel on SiriusXM to share all the songs we love. The ones that made us pick up guitars, pile into vans, and chase something loud and real. We’re digging into everything including bands we love, old Green Day demos, live tracks, deep cuts, and telling the stories behind it all. Come hang with us, and let it rip!”
SiriusXM President/Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein added, “Green Day has pushed rock music and culture forward for decades and continues to resonate with audiences around the world through their music and message. We are thrilled to give Green Day the space to create a one-of-a-kind listening experience for fans that reflects their unique musical journey.”
