Andy Schuon Joins Academy of Country Music As CEO

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
July 21, 2026

Andy SchuonThe Academy of Country Music has announced the appointment of Andy Schuon as its new CEO.

Schuon began his career at the age of sixteen at KOZZ Reno and would later worked at KZEP and KISS-FM San Antonio and KAZY Denver. He first came to national prominence in media as Program Director of Alternative 106.7 KROQ Los Angeles from 1989 to 1992 where he was responsible for launching Kevin & Bean in mornings and Loveline at night. He would spend the majority of his career in television, music and digital media, but also served as President of Programming for CBS Radio from 2002 to 2004.

Schuon has also held roles as EVP/Programming for MTV Networks from 1992 to 1998, Co-founder of Pressplay.com, Farmclub.com, Revolt TV, Every Day Networks, and Spkr, executive roles at both Warner Records and Universal Music Group, President of LiveOne/Slacker Radio, and most recently as Anthem Sports and Entertainment.

He commented, “The most rewarding moments of my career have come from building for the future and embracing innovation while honoring the artists and creative communities that make music so powerful. Throughout every chapter, from radio and television to streaming, digital media and the music business, the constant has been the transformative power of music to bring people together. The Academy of Country Music has long set the standard for recognizing excellence while championing the evolution of Country Music. The organization has a remarkable legacy of celebrating the artists, songwriters, and industry professionals who define Country Music. As the genre continues to reach new audiences around the world, I see an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen the Academy’s impact, deepen engagement with our members, artists, partners and fans while ensuring the organization continues to lead the industry through its next era of growth and innovation and help shape an even brighter future for Country Music.”

ACM Board of Directors Chair Cris Lacy commented, “Andy Schuon’s remarkable career reflects a lifelong commitment to innovation, creativity, and serving artists. The ACM Board of Directors are excited to partner with Andy as we continue to strengthen the Academy’s impact, expand its reach, and create even greater value for our members and the Country Music community.”

Former ACM CEO Damon Whiteside will continue serving as the CEO Emeritus for the remainder of 2026.

INSTANT INSIGHT: Also of note in Schuon’s LinkedIn is a piece noting himself as Founder and CEO of Station Entertainment in April 2026 describing himself as “acquiring major U.S. radio stations to connect millions of listeners with a multi-platform audio and video future.”
