Bell Media Hot AC “105.3 Kool-FM” CFCA-FM Kitchener ON is stunting on the way to a new format.
CFCA is currently stunting with Christmas Music until Friday, July 29 at 12:00pm when it will debut its new format. At this point we’re expecting the station to become Bell’s eight “Virgin Radio” CHR as 1053VirginRadio.com and .ca were registered anonymously by Bell’s registrar in June.
CFCA-FM placed fourth in the Kitchener-Waterloo market in the Spring 2016 Numeris ratings with a 7.6 share. A move to CHR would place the station up against Corus’ “91.5 The Beat” CKBT-FM, which ranked third with an 8.3 share.
With the upcoming change in format afternoon host Andrew Gerrior has exited the station.
Wonder if someone is able to grab the flip on Friday, as the streaming has been shut off down South.
I’ll be recording the flip over via my SDR soon. I will upload it to soundcloud, if you’d like.
Just found it. Thank you! Wow…people came through on this one!
A new post over at CRN says that the same thing may happen to CJCH in Halifax–although there may not be any stunting going on. (Noon in Kitchener would be 1:00 p.m. in Halifax, so it’d make sense.)
And, a related PSR post says that there may be “possibly 1 or 2 more” new Virgins…

BTW, could this be tied in with the formal launch of iHeartRadio Canada (which involves Bell)? I haven’t seen an official date for that yet.
On June 17, I reported that 1013VirginRadio.com and 1053VirginRadio.com were registered so that checks out with the Bounce rebranding as well.

I would sure hope iheart adds Bell’s stations on the US side of things as well…If they do it for Mexican stations, Canada should be included as well.
