The owners of the York Revolution of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball are expanding their radio holdings in their home market.
York Professional Baseball’s On First Media will acquire Classic Rock “Rocky 98.5” WYCR York-Hanover, Country “Froggy 107.7” WGTY Gettysburg, and Hot AC “Happy 95.3” 1280 WHVR/W237EN Hanover from Forever Media for $3.1 million. The stations will join the team’s “SportsRadio 98.9” 1350 WOYK/W255DJ York.
YPB Chairman Bill Shipley said, “We are excited by this opportunity both for the Revolution and for York County. Keeping these leading stations in local ownership is great for the community and being able to partner between what they are already doing, the Revolution’s community focus at WellSpan Park, and our WOYK presence in York provides tremendous growth
opportunities all around.”
York Revolution President Eric Menzer will lead the integration of the stations. WOYK General Manager Darrell Henry will remain in that role, while Forever York General Manager Dave Davies will remain leading the acquired stations.
Forever owner Lynn Deppen said he was pleased to have this opportunity to keep York’s market-leading radio stations locally owned, and to partner with the York Professional Baseball team to continue the record of outstanding broadcasting and community service in Central Pennsylvania.
