After a gradual evolution over the years from Rhythmic Oldies to Rhythmic AC to a day-parted Rhythmic AC by day and Rhythmic CHR at night, “Jammin 105.9” KFMK Austin, TX completed its transition today as it relaunched as Hip-Hop “105.9 The Beat” at 9:00am. The station stunted for a few hours prior as Active Rock “The Planet” as a throwback to a similar stunt when the station signed-on in 1998. The Kidd Kraddick morning show is out as part of the changes, however Ryan Seacrest remains in middays.
The Beat branding has history in the market on 104.3 from 1998 to July 2004 and again from January 2005 to February 2007 at which time it moved to 104.9 until its demise in September 2008.
