As expected, the conflict with the “Super Q” branding has resulted in a name change for the coming Spanish CHR format on 97.1 W246AQ Collingswood/97.5 WPEN-HD3 Burlington, NJ/Philadelphia.
The Latin Radio Group operated translator will instead launch on Wednesday, April 1 as “97.1 Supra-FM“.
Original Report 3/16: A Spanish CHR will debut on FM in Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 1.
97.1 W246AQ Collingswood, NJ will drop its rebroadcast of Priority Radio’s Christian CHR “Reach Radio” 89.1 WXHL-FM Christiana, DE and become “Super Q” fed by Greater Media’s 97.5 WPEN-HD3.
The new “Super Q” will be operated by former “Latino 100.3” WKKB Providence PD/Morning Host Quilvio Perdomo ‘DJ Frankie’ Rodriguez’s Latin Radio Group.
W246AQ operates with 10 watts at 151 meters from the top of PSFS Building in center city Philadelphia (Coverage Map).
INSTANT INSIGHT: There’s no way this station will last with the “Super Q” branding as long as iHeartMedia’s “Q102” WIOQ exists. We expect iHeart will act swiftly to protect the decades-long intellectual property and brand awareness WIOQ has built in Philadelphia.
April 1st? That sounds foolish! Can’t wait to see how this plays out.
It looks like a heater is posting in RadioInsight about Q102 and IheartMedia,
I did read it’s Spanish Radio Station Nothing to see with Q102.
Everyone welcome!!!!! May other Spanish station AM is Freaking nervous? and looks like is trying to confront Iheart with the New Spanish station.
Welcome Guys!!
It had NOTHING to do with the format of the station, the problem was that they were going to use the Q branding for their station.
The HD-3’s been on with Supra 97 since late last week. Some of the music reminds me of WRTI’s Saturday night ‘El Viaje’ program.
If you’re gonna have a countdown to launch on your website, you should probably make sure it’s going do something when it reaches zero:
http://supra97.com/
If a full blown site isn’t ready to go at least put up a splash screen with some brief description of your format and name some artists you’ll play.
