For the second time this week a smaller Cumulus station that serves part of a large market has removed all locally originating programming.
AC “94.3 WFAS” W232AL Pomona/WPLJ-HD2 New York has let go of PD/Morning Host Mary DeSilva and afternoon host “The Hartman” and is now running Westwood One’s AC format. WFAS serves the Westchester and Rockland County suburbs north of New York City.
The current iteration of the station launched last August following the move of 103.9 WFAS-FM to Bronxville where it targets portions of New York City as Urban AC “Radio 103.9” WNBM.
Might Cumulus decide to drop local programming at it’s bigger stations to give it’s national formats and programming more clearances?
Sure, because we all know that local programming results in lower ratings. Oh, wait….
It is pretty shocking that Cumulus smacked a few months out of the wallet to put this thing on air, then did nothing to promote it. You really have to scratch your head and wonder why they even bothered.
What’s WFAS(AM) “twelve-three-oh!” doing these days? Why not program it full service in the drivetimes and simulcast it on 94.3?
