Jon Williams and Derek ‘Deek’ Kastner have exited Butler Broadcasting Alternative “104.9 The X” KXNA Springdale/Fayetteville AR and are jumping to Cumulus’ crosstown cluster.
94.9 KRMW Cedarville will flip from Classic Country “94.9 Nash Icon” to Adult Alternative on Friday, July 15 as “Radio Jon/Deek” prior to the duos debut on July 18. The Nash Icon brand and morning host ‘Big Dan’ Hentschell have already slid down to what was “94.3 Nash-FM” KAMO-FM Rogers.
Northwest Arkansas Business describes the upcoming “Radio Jon/Deek” as “a mixture of classic and adult rock” with The Police, Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay and The Black Keys listed as artists they will play. Williams and Kastner will air from 6-10am with portions of their show replayed throughout the day.
INSTANT INSIGHT: While it will help build early exposure to define where to find the show, when has a terrestrial station named after their star personalities succeeded? In recent history we’ve had “Bubba 98.7” in Tampa and multiple “Rush Radio” Conservative Talkers. CBS had operated “Howard 93.7” in Sacramento until Stern announced his departure for Sirius.
While I don’t know much about Butler, I’m wondering if that was a smart move to go Cumeless.
