The NHL’s Washington Capitals will have their games heard on iHeartMedia’s 104.7 W284CQ Washington DC/101.1 WWDC-HD2 starting with tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
W284CQ has been rebroadcasting CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT Washington since its launch last summer. The Capitals have not had all of their games broadcast on radio this season as they are bumped off Hubbard’s “Federal News Radio” 1500 WFED when they conflict with the NBA’s Washington Wizards or other programming. WFED will continue to air games that do not have conflicts in addition to W284CQ.
The deal runs just through the end of the 2016-2017 season. The Capitals had been heard on CBS Sports “106.7 The Fan” WJFK prior to this year. W284CQ operates with 99 watts/226m from the Bethesda MD tower utilized by iHeartMedia as its auxiliary facility for its five Washington FMs.
Outside of Capitals game broadcasts, W284CQ will carry the Active Rock programming of WWDC-HD2.
