Former CBS Country “US 99.5” WUSN Chicago Program Director Jeff Kapugi is returning to iHeartMedia as Senior Vice President of Programming for its Washington DC and Baltimore clusters and Program Director of Country 98.7 WMZQ Washington.
Kapugi previously spent nearly two decades at then Clear Channel working up through the ranks at 93.3 WFLZ Tampa and then in St. Louis where he helped launch CHR “Z107.7” KSLZ and finally Washington/Baltimore where he served as OM and PD of CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT. He left the company in 2008 to join Randy Michaels as Chief Operating Officer at Tribune Interactive before returning to radio in 2010 as PD of CBS Radio’s two St. Louis music stations and then in 2012 joining WUSN and becoming CBS’ Vice President of Country Programming. Kapugi exited CBS in December 2016.
In his new role Kapugi will succeed Meg Stevens to allow her to focus on her duties as Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Northeast Division. Stevens had supplanted Kapugi as OM of Clear Channel Washington when he departed in 2008.
