iHeartMedia Alternative “XL 102” 102.1 WRXL Richmond VA night jock Alex Mac is heading west to join a pair of sister stations.
Mac will be based in Des Moines where he will serve as Music Director and afternoon host for “Alt 106.3” KDXA Ankeny and will also add nights at “Alt 104.9” KLLT Columbia IL/St. Louis. He will be reunited with former WRXL Program Director Dustin Fletcher who now serves as PD of both stations as Director of Alternative Rock Programming for the St. Louis Region.
Alex Mac will take over afternoons and the role of Music Director for iHeartMedia’s ALT 106.3/Des Moines, as well as Evening Personality for ALT 104.9/St. Louis, effective October 30.
Mac will broadcast from 2 – 7p.m. on ALT 106.3 in Des Moines and 7 p.m.-midnight on ALT 104.9 in St. Louis. As Music Director of ALT 106.3, he will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the station and its music programming while reporting to Dustin Fletcher, Director of Alternative Rock Programming for the St. Louis Region and Greg Chance, Regional Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Des Moines.

Alex Mac joins the Des Moines market from iHeartMedia Richmond, where he most recently served as the Night Host on XL102, Richmond’s Alternative Rock station. He began his career with iHeartMedia Richmond as a Promotions Assistant and is a graduate of University of Richmond.
