Entercom has made its first move at its recently acquired Richmond VA cluster by appointing John Reid as morning host at News/Talk 1140 WRVA.
Reid joins WRVA from the Veterans Administration and SiriusXM’s Conservative Talk “Patriot” where he hosted nights. He had a long run in Richmond as a television investigative reporter and morning news anchor at WRIC from 1994-2004. He fills the opening created by Jimmy Barrett’s move to 740 KTRH Houston in August.
With the addition of Reid, Jeff Katz returns to afternoons from 3-6pm after filling in on mornings for the past few months.
Entercom, the #1 creator of live, original, local audio content in the United States, announced John Reid as the new morning show host of News Radio 1140 WRVA, Richmond’s No. 1 News, Weather and Traffic Station. The show airs weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST and features local on-air and nationally syndicated personalities dedicated to the Richmond community.
“John is a Richmond area native and has already developed a great connection with Richmond during his tenure at Channel 8, WRIC,” said Zac Davis, Entercom Richmond’s Senior Vice President of Programming. “We’re ecstatic to be able to secure someone of John’s stature and pedigree for WRVA.”
“It’s a full circle for me to return home. Former Host Tim Timberlake gave me my first on air interview on the WRVA Morning Show when I was growing up back in 1986,” said Reid. “I’m excited to become WRVA’s newest Morning Show Host, especially following Jimmy Barrett.”
John Reid joins WRVA from the Veterans Administration and Sirius Radio’s “The Patriot Channel.”
