iHeartMedia Regional Senior Vice President of Programming for St. Louis Region AJ is transferring to Charlotte NC to program CHR “Channel 96.1” WHQC and Variety Hits “102.9 The Lake” WLKO.
AJ joined iHeartMedia in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Programming overseeing the company’s Norfolk and Richmond VA stations and programming CHR “Q94” WRVQ and AC “Mix 98.1” WTVR-FM Richmond He then transferred to St. Louis in July 2016 where he oversaw all programming for St. Louis and programmed CHR “Z107.7” KSLZ and Gospel “Hallelujah 1600” KATZ. He has also programmed CHRs 97.1 WBHT Wilkes-Barre, “Kiss 106.7” WKGS Rochester, and “Hot 107.9” WWHT Syracuse during his career.
AJ replaces Boomer who had programmed WHQC since 2011 and like his replacement also programmed KSLZ and WRVQ Richmond.
iHeartMedia announced today that A.J. has been named Program Director for Charlotte’s Channel 96.1, All the Hits, and 102.9 The Lake, We Play Anything, effective February 12. iHeartMedia Charlotte has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises – both broadcast and digital – encompassing more than five stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. A.J. will work with on-air personalities and sales teams to oversee the stations’ day-to-day programming, promotions and digital operations.

A 20-plus year radio veteran, A.J. most recently served as the Regional Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s St. Louis Region and day-to-day Program Director for Z107.7, St. Louis’ No. 1 Hit Music Station, and Hallelujah 1600, Today’s Gospel Hits: St. Louis. He has also held various programming roles in Richmond, VA; Norfolk, VA; Syracuse, NY; Rochester, NY; Albany, NY; Roanoke, VA; and Wilkes-Barre, PA. A.J. attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
