Update 7/12: Citadel appears to be on the verge of launching “Rock 92.3” to fill the void left by the demise of KYRK.
Original Entry 7/1: Clear Channel has flipped “The Rock Of New Orleans” 104.1 KYRK to 80s based Classic Rock “104-1 The Brew” at 3pm local time today leaving New Orleans without a current based Rock outlet. KYRK had acquired the Rock format when sister 99.5 WRNO flipped to News/Talk in 2006. KYRK rimshots New Orleans, but covers much of Southern Louisiana including Baton Rouge.
After bidding the old format adieu with Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life” and REM’s “End Of The World As We Know It”, the first hour of 104.1 The Brew consisted of:
AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long
U2 – Pride (In The Name Of Love)
Guns N’ Roses – Welcome To The Jungle
Heart – Barracuda
Def Leppard – Rock Of Ages
Tom Petty – Runnin’ Down A Dream
Billy Squier – The Stroke
Autograph – Turn Up The Radio
Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion
Bon Jovi – You Give Love A Bad Name
Aldo Nova – Fantasy
Bryan Adams – Summer Of ’69
Van Halen – Oh, Pretty Woman
Yes – Owner Of A Lonely Heart
The Steve Miller Band – Jungle Love
