Just over one year after joining Entercom Country “Y108” 107.9 WDSY Pittsburgh for mornings, Bill ‘Broadway’ Bert has exited the station.
Bert joined WDSY in October 2017 and was joined by co-hosts Jade Hilliard and ‘Cowboy Curt’ Hughes in January. Prior to joining WDSY, Bert previously hosted mornings at WWYZ Hartford, WKIS Miami, and WSNX Grand Rapids and nights at WBCT Grand Rapids and KSLZ St. Louis.
In a blog post explaining his departure Bert wrote, “The last year has gone by fast. In that time I have learned SO MUCH about radio and how to put on a great show. I did want to let yinz guys know that I am moving on from Y108.
I want to thank Entercom for the opportunity to host mornings on one of their legendary stations. Jade, Cowboy Curt, Charrie, everyone that’s been a part of the show…THANK YOU. We had fun on the radio!”
It might be fun bringing in guests to host the morning show for a day. Jimmy Roach is my first choice. What about Mike Lange and Lanny Frattare? What about local athletes? Perhaps local comedians and why not ask Michael Keaton? There’s also local country bands that might be interested.
Until then there are lots of good deejays from smaller stations that I’m sure would jump at the chance to be on a major radio station. Might even be a few on some stations in other parts of the country that are from this area that would like to come back.
Just my two cents.
