Neal Ardman’s NIA Broadcasting has begun operating Genesis Communications three Florida stations: Talk “News Talk Florida” 820 WWBA/98.3 W252DF Largo, Sports “SportsTalk Florida” 1040 WHBO Pinellas Park both in the Tampa market and 1060 WIXC Titusville/Melbourne which had been simulcasting WWBA.
The two Tampa stations join a cluster that already includes Rhythmic Oldies 1150 WTMP Egypt Lake/97.5 W248CA St. Petersburg and Regional Mexican “Caliente 96” 96.1 WTMP-FM Dade City/1470 WMGG Egypt Lake/101.9 W270DU Tampa.
WIXC is now rebroadcasting the Regional Mexican programming of “Caliente 96” for the other side of the state. The Melbourne/Titusville market is served by a pair of Spanish Tropical FMs from the Orlando market, but this gives it its first station targeting the Mexican population in east central Florida.
NIA has also announced that the syndicated Bubba The Love Sponge will move from mornings on WWBA to the same timeslot on WHBO. A new morning show for WWBA will be announced. Afternoon host Rock Riley has exited WHBO with the management change.
