Booster Changes

97.3 The Fan Machine KEGY San Diego Dan Sileo Kevin KleinAfter applying last month for a booster to cover La Jolla, Entercom Sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN San Diego applies for four additional boosters. KWFN-2 Ramona would operate with 200w horizontal 600w vertical/65m. KWFN-3 San Marcos with 12w horizontal 35w vertical/297m. KWFN-4 Escondido would utilize 53w horizontal 160w vertical/308m. KWFN-5 Encinitas would broadcast with 330w horizontal 1kW vertical/4m. The network of boosters would fill coverage holes in the northern portions of the San Diego market. Prior to having to divest 92.1 KSOQ Escondido (now EMF’s KYDQ) following the CBS Radio acquisition, Entercom used that signal to simulcast 97.3 in that area.

FCC Actions

Alabama Media has been issued an $18,000 forfeiture for multiple violations of 107.7 W299BX Dothan AL. W299BX was caught operating at an unlicensed site rebroadcasting 700 WARB Dothan in 2016. After being notified by the FCC the company filed an STA and application to relocate the translator. The translator was also silent without an STA for 11 months in 2015/2016 and was alleged to have originated programming with its parent station off the air for at least eleven days.
