A second Educational Media Foundation owned translator that had been programmed by iHeartMedia has reverted to its owner for programming.
Classic Country “103.7 The Legend” has become an online and HD only service and no longer heard on K279BO Portland. The programming continues on former originating station 105.9 KFBW-HD3 Vancouver WA. The station had registered a 0.6 share in the March 2019 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings.
K279BO follows 97.5 W248BB Chicago, which was leased to iHeartMedia and sub-leased to Showtime Media in returning to EMF control this week. Both of EMF’s primary services are already heard in the Portland market. “K-Love” is on 97.9 KLVP Aloha, while “Air 1” is available on rimshot 88.7 KZRI Sandy and 92.7 K224DL Portland.
iHeart continues to operate a number of EMF owned translators across the country. It also recently swapped four stations out of the Aloha Stations Trust to EMF for six translators.
Makes perfect sense for EMF to give some of its translators to iHeart if they don’t have a full power. iHeart could in return stick K-Love on an HD2 to feed EMF’s other translators
