Coquia was promoted from Music Director to Program Director earlier this year following the departure of Jimmy Steal to Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX Chicago. Since then he has also overseen the launch of Spanish Rhythmic “Cali 93.9” KLLI and debuted new morning shows on both KDAY and KPWR. He will continue to program those two stations and oversee the early stages of KLLI. Keith Cunningham, who joined Meruelo with the purchase of Rock 95.5 KLOS, will continue to program that station.

Meruelo Media announced today that World Famous DJ and Music Specialist, Emmanuel “E-Man” Coquia has been promoted to Director of Programming and Content for Meruelo Media. Under this new title, E-Man will head the programming and music content for Meruelo Media’s Power 106 (KPWR-FM), 93.5 KDAY and oversee the initial stages of the new CALI 93.9 (KLLI-FM) Latin Rhythmic format. E-Man will continue reporting to Meruelo Media President and COO, Otto Padron.

Since taking over as interim program director for Power 106 and 93.5 KDAY on February 1, 2019, E-Man has been a driver of change and new ideas. He reimagined Power 106’s annual Hip Hop music festival “Powerhouse” this past May transforming it into the Standing-Room-Only “Lift Off” new music fest. E-man personally recruited Nick Cannon and together they created the new Power 106 morning show; he also overhauled the 93.5 KDAY Morning Show with Romeo and added Cece to the mix; today, he is an instrumental player in the developmental stage and launch of the all-new Cali 93.9.

“E-Man is Our-man!” stated Otto Padron, President and COO of Meruelo Media, “… after an exhaustive nationwide search that attracted some of the most talented PD’s in America – the choice was clear,” Otto continued, “E-Man had a sensible plan and a vision that aligned perfectly with our goals to disrupt the industry with new hyper local LA content. Above all, he had boundless confidence strengthened by a time-built arsenal of industry respect from the labels, artist, management, colleagues and fellow Meruelo Media team members!”

E-Man said, “I’m truly excited to continue to lead the incredible winning teams at our two iconic Hip Hop radio stations in Los Angeles; Power 106 & 93.5 KDAY. I am also enjoying every minute assembling and developing the new Cali 93.9 team. I would like to thank Alex Meruelo, Luis Armona, Otto Padron, Tommy Trujillo, and the entire Meruelo Media family for this incredible opportunity. My family and I are very blessed and humbled. To be a part of three major radio stations in Los Angeles that play Hip-Hop: Current, Classic, & Latin Hip-Hop/Reggaeton is a very dope feeling, especially as a fan of these music genres.”
