For the second time in six months, a new format has debuted on Entravision’s 101.9 KNTY Shingle Springs/Sacramento CA.
KNTY previously dropped its Country “101.9 The Wolf” identity in July to simulcast rimshot Regional Mexican “La Tricolor” 99.9 KRCX-FM Marysville. On Monday, that simulcast gave way for the launch of Ranchera “Jose 101.9“.
The station is listing Vicente Fernandez, José Alfredo Jimenez, Juan Gabriel, Las Jilguerillas, Antonio Aguilar, Los Tigres del Norte, Joan Sebastian, and Gerardo Reyes as core artists.
In its final monthly as Country KNTY held a 2.0 share, while KRCX-FM was at a 1.5 in the June 2019 Nielsen Audio ratings. The combined KRCX/KNTY simulcast was at a 1.6 in the December monthly.
KNTY joins three of the six Entravision AMs that picked up the Ranchera format following the demise of the “ESPN Deportes” network in September as part of the “Jose” network. Those stations are 710 KBMB Black Canyon City/Phoenix AZ, 1090 KMXA Aurora/Denver CO, and 1450 KRZY Albuquerque NM. Three other stations have since flipped back to Spanish Sports utilizing Univision’s “TUDN Deportes” network: 570 KCVR Lodi/Sacramento CA, 1650 KSVE El Paso TX, and 1460 KBZO Lubbock TX.
