After originally returning with Christmas Music, 102.7 WMOM Pentwater/Ludington MI has moved to what it is calling a temporary all 1980’s format.
New operator Hit Radio Media is using the all 80’s programming while the station upgrades its studios and equipment, which it states will take three to four weeks. After which it will debut its new permanent format and programming.
The station is also giving away what they are considering to be grants to local businesses for free advertising during the current pandemic. WMOM says it has “allocated nearly $30,000 in radio advertising time to be given to businesses in the listening area at no charge” with priority given to local brick and mortar businesses at their discretion.
Update 3/26: Following the return of WMOM, Bay View Broadcasting has sold the station to Hit Radio Media LLC for $44,000. The deal will also include an immediate LMA and an annual $200 non-compete payment to seller Patrick Lopeman until Lopeman’s death.
Hit Radio Media Managing Partner Jim Chesley also owns 42.59% of Packer Radio Greenville’s Full Service “M106.3” 1380 WGLM Greenville and 106.3 WGLM Lakeview MI and 23.5% of Packer Radio WION’s “i1430” 1430 WION/92.7 W224BZ/100.3 W262DN Ionia MI.
Original Report 3/25: With a little over a week left before its license would have expired, Patrick Lopeman’s Bay View Broadcasting’s 102.7 WMOM Pentwater/Ludington MI has relaunched.
WMOM is currently stunting with Christmas music with a Facebook post stating, “Bringing some needed cheer, before a change is in the air.” WMOM previously featured an Alternative leaning CHR format prior to going silent last year.
Lopeman took WMOM off the air on April 1, 2019 after suffering serious injuries in a car accident.
