After five stations ceased operations last week, an additional half dozen stations filed Silent STA’s this week blaming the coronavirus.
Summerland Media’s Bilingual “Radio Ritmo” 102.5 WPIK Summerland Key/Key West FL went off the air “because too many advertisers are no longer able to advertise”.
Jackson Hole Media’s Country 100.1 KCHQ Soda Springs ID went off the air with owner Ted Austin stating, “Revenue at FM radio broadcast station KCHQ has dropped below the level necessary to sustain the operation.”
Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters has ceased operations on Classical “K-Mozart” 630 KIDD/106.7 K294CA and Oldies “K-Surf” 1240 KNRY/95.9 K240EV Monterey CA. A donation of both stations to Balanced Radio Foundation last November has yet to close.
After East Carolina Radio’s Classic Country simulcast 1260 WZBO Edenton and 1240 WCNC Elizabeth City NC filed Silent STA’s last week, the company also took Christian 1530 WOBX Wanchese silent claiming the station experienced multiple advertisement cancellations resulting in significant reductions in revenue.
