Following its layoffs earlier this month, the company has begun to accelerate its use of internal syndication and voicetracking.
At their Hip-Hop stations, the “QuickSilva Show With Dominique Da Diva” based at 93.9 WKYS Washington DC is now also heard in Cincinnati, Columbus, Detroit and Philadelphia in addition to its previous syndication to Baltimore. WKYS midday host Jackie Paige is now also being heard on “92.7 The Block” WQNC Charlotte and “iPower 92.1” WCDX Richmond. These join the previously announced move of Incognito from Cleveland to Atlanta and syndication to Cincinnati, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, and Indianapolis.
Other recent on-air changes at the company include:
- “105.3 R&B” WOSF Charlotte adds the company’s DL Hughley Show for afternoons replacing Eddie Owens, who exited during the layoffs. The majority of Radio One’s Adult R&B stations have standardized on Rickey Smiley in mornings and Hughley in afternoons with a local midday host.
- One exception is “95.5 The Lou” WFUN-FM St. Louis where Tony Scott moves from weekends to afternoons replacing DJ Kut and Ms. Sinita. Scott has previously worked at multiple stations in the market including over 25 years at 100.3 KMJM and most recently hosted afternoons at 105.7 KRNB Dallas.
- MinaSayWhat moves from weekends to middays at 100.3 WRNB Philadelphia. Mina previously has worked at WUSL and WPHI in Philadelphia and WQHT New York and is also heard on SiriusXM’s The Heat channel.
- DJ Angel Baby moves from middays at “Z107.9” WENZ Cleveland to afternoons at “92.7 The Block” WQNC Charlotte, while continuing to track middays at WGPR Detroit.
- Replacing DJ Angel Baby at WENZ is weekend host Matty Willz. Willz also serves as the local producer for the syndicated Morning Hustle.
- Dyana Williams exits afternoons at R&B Oldies “Classix 107.9” WPPZ Philadelphia. Williams took that slot last July after a long run hosting a Sunday soul program at WPPZ and WRNB.
