FCC Actions
After deleting the license for Ward Broadcasting Corporation’s Gospel 1480 WTOY Salem VA last October after it failed to file a license renewal application on time, the FCC had temporarily allowed the station to return to operations via STA as the licensee noted that WTOY owner Irvin Ward suffered a stroke in June and died in August leading to the failed on-time submission of their license renewal. The station had submitted the license renewal with the STA submission.
The FCC this week granted the license renewal, but due to failing to file a timely license renewal application and engaging in unauthorized operation of the Station after its authorization had expired the agency has fined WTOY $7,000 and is only granting the renewal for two years instead of the regular eight year term.
Deletions
La Jefa Latino Broadcasting’s 1270 WKBF Rock Island IL has been deleted after failing to respond to an FCC inquire on the station’s operating status. In April, the FCC received an email stating that WKBF was off the air for over a year and the towers were torn down in March after the YMCA foreclosed on the property lease and executed a lien to take possession of the towers and transmitters.
The licenses of Magnolia State Broadcasting’s Conservative Talk 1010 WMOX Meridian MS, Woo2 Communications’ Christian “1230 The Source” KLIC Monroe LA, and Emanuel Carrera’s Regional Mexican 1350 KZTD Cabot AR were deleted after failing to file a license renewal in time.
