After nearly two weeks of stunting as “Short Attention Span Radio“, SummitMedia’s 100.9 WJSR Lakeside/Richmond VA has gone into a second stunt format as the station moved to Christmas music as “Santa 100.9” this afternoon.
WJSR becomes SummitMedia’s second station to go all-Christmas following 106.9 WVEZ Louisville on October 5, and the fourth station nationally.
Original Report 10/1: SummitMedia has dropped the Variety Hits “100.9 Jack-FM” format on 100.9 WJSR Lakeside/Richmond VA.
At midnight the station began stunting as “Short Attention Span Radio” running auditorium hooks of songs.
We have been monitoring domain registrations for WJSR for a few weeks now. Summit registered two sets of domains for potential use on the station.
WJSR had debuted the now former “Jack-FM” format in October 2018. The station had a 2.2 share in the August 2020 Nielsen Audio ratings.
I can’t stand this short attention span music. It’s so completely aggravating that I am switching to any radio station that will play complete songs. Ugh!
So Jack lasted about 2 years on this stick too…about right.
Might have done better if it was more market specific instead of more or less the same feed that all the other mid and small market Jacks get…
In 10 years this stick has gone from alt Y101 to chr Hot100 to soft ac Easy100.9 to classic hits Star100.9 and now Jack and all have failed…what a waste of a good strong city grade signal…
I wonder what’s next? I’m sure it too will fail if the powers that be put as little effort into it as they did the previous incarnations…
