Grants Pass Broadcasting will complete its acquisition of 94.7 KRRM Rogue River/Grants Pass OR on Monday, January 4 and relaunch the station’s former Classic Country format with a new local lineup.
KRRM has been mostly Silent since October 2019 when it was put up for sale following the death of former owner Shirley Bell. The new lineup will be lead for former “Q100.3” KRWQ Medford morning hosts Ashley Main and Jason Allen. Main had resigned as PD/morning co-host at KRWQ in October claiming he was considered “under appreciated, undervalued and not essential” by her former employer. Allen departed the station earlier in December ahead of the move to KRRM.
Hot AC 98.3 KLDR PD/morning host Brenda Fritsen will add middays at KRRM to her duties. Tom Ray, morning host at Full Service Classic Hits 1270/99.7 KAJO, will also host afternoons at KRRM. KLDR evening host Cassie Callas will move to the same slot at KRRM with Main succeeding her on KLDR.
“Your Brand of Country” hits the Rogue Valley airwaves January 4th. At 6am, KRRM 94.7 FM returns to the air, continuing a 27-year country music legacy the station built as a community icon. Accompanying the return of the station will be a seasoned on-air lineup and special programming that will accompany the station’s new tagline, “Your Brand of Country.”“KRRM 94.7 was a symbol of what the spirit of radio is to our community”, said Carl Wilson, the station’s new owner. “Herb and Shirley Bell built a heritage station that symbolizes what radio should be in our community. We look forward to building on that legacy on January 4th.”KRRM’s January 4th launch will premiere a lineup of both familiar and new on-air talent and programming for the station.Jason and Ashley Morning Show – 6:00 am to 10:00 amKRRM is excited to announce that the morning show will be led by the dynamic, three-time Academy of Country Music nominated team of Jason Allen and Ashley Main.Jason Allen is a well-known local talent (graduate of Glendale High School, Class of ’98 – Go Pirates!) He is married to Kimberly and is the father of five. An avid Oregon Ducks fan, Jason loves Saturdays at Autzen Stadium and enjoys country music festivals up and down the west coast. A veteran broadcaster, Jason has been in radio since 1998. He’s passionate about supporting St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and is also the host of Garage Talk with Jason Allen podcast.Ashley Main, also a small-town product, left Aberdeen, Washington (diehard Seahawks fan) and moved to the Rogue Valley in 2015. The girl who used to record her own radio shows on cassette tape also refinanced her car to pay for a trip to Nashville just to attend the Country Music Awards. She’s equally as passionate about supporting St. Jude’s and even met her husband after not shaving her legs for a month to benefit the hospital. She’s a furmama to her rescue pup Max, and corgi, Marty McFly. She loves to be active in the gym and outside – even hiking Mt. McLaughlin this last summer.Brenda Fritsen in the Mid-DayAfter hosting the morning show on KLDR, Brenda will keep you company 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Brenda was born and raised in Grants Pass, graduated from Grants Pass High School , and joined Grants Pass Broadcasting the Summer of 2011. She is program director for all three stations. Brenda enjoys spending time with family, gardening and playing in the sun!Tom Ray’s Afternoon DriveIf you catch yourself with afternoon drive time, you’ll hear the voice of Tom Ray from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on KRRM. Tom grew up sledding and building snow forts in Alaska. But eventually, Tom left Anchorage to become the Executive Director of the Grants Pass Boys and Girls Club and then was recognized for his voice as he began to announce sporting events for his kids in Grants Pass. He joined the Grants Pass Broadcasting team in 2002 and the rest is history.Cassie Callas in the EveningThe KRRM evening show will be hosted by Cassie Callas. Cassie grew up in Grants Pass and loves to go camping, fishing, and entertaining friends with her amazing barbecue. Cassie does a wide range of things for the station. In addition to her time on the air at KLDR, she also lends her voice to many of the commercials you hear from small businesses in the area. She has a passion for helping small businesses grow through creative voice overs.KRRM specialty programming on the weekends will include Rowdy Yates with The Original Country Gold, Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence, and heard on KRRM’s weekly lineup, popular “Out West” programming like Wittler’s Corner Radio Show with Cowboy Poet Butch Martin and his singer-songwriter mate, Christina Lynn Martin, and Cowboy Corner with Red Steagall celebrating the American cowboy.
