Midwest Communications is giving the “Jack-FM” Variety Hits brand an upgrade in Kalamazoo.
The format of “96.5 Jack-FM” WZOX Portage moved to 106.5 WVFM Kalamazoo replacing AC “FM 106.5” overnight. The move upgrades the format from the Class A signal to the Class B 106.5 signal that is also heard in much of Southwest Michigan including parts of the Grand Rapids market.
The two stations will simulcast until Wednesday, March 3 until a new format debuts on WZOX.
WZOX debuted its “Jack-FM” identity in November 2018 following a flip from Alternative. The station registered a 4.8 share in the Fall 2020 Nielsen Audio ratings tying for second in the market up from a 3.6 in the Spring. WVFM was tied for fifth with a 4.3 down from a 5.2 share.
