Radio One flipped CHR “Radio Now 92.1” KROI Seabrook/Houston TX to Gospel “Praise 92.1” this morning.
The move brings the “Praise” brand back to the 92.1 signal as it was previously heard there from 2006 to 2011. Since then it has continued to be heard on 102.1 KMJQ-HD2. KROI will carry Radio One’s suite of syndicated daily programming including “Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell”, Willie Moore Jr. in afternoons, and “The Nightly Spirit with Darlene McCoy”.
The CHR “Radio Now” brand had aired on KROI since January 2017 when it launched to fill the second CHR slot in the market role created by CBS Radio’s flip of “Hot 95.7” KKHH to Adult Hits “95.7 The Spot“. Due to its rimshot signal, it never generated any momentum against Cumulus Media’s 104.1 KRBE with Radio Now rising from a 0.5 to 0.8 share in the March 2021 Nielsen Audio ratings placing it well behind KRBE’s 3.5.
Exiting the station with the flip are midday host ‘On Air Laura’ Dickerson and evening host Jessica Jeanz. Dickerson joined KROI in June 2017 from producing mornings at “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA/KZON Phoenix. Jeanz also hosts late nights at Hip Hop “97.9 The Box” KBXX. She previously worked at KROI during its former Classic Hip Hop “Boom 92” iteration and has also worked in mornings at Hot AC “Mix 105.1” KKRG Albuquerque and spent eleven years at “98.5 The Beat” KBBT San Antonio. KROI aired Yea! Networks’ Kidd Kraddick Morning Show and Tino Cochino Radio in afternoons.

Houston’s Inspiration Station is now back on the 92.1 dial with a new and improved signal offering full market coverage in HD broadcasting at 40,000 watts and simulcasting on Praise 102.1 HD2.
