Audacy Launches 105.3 Dave-FM San Francisco

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
October 15, 2021

Alt 105.3 Dave-FM KITS San FranciscoAudacy flipped Alternative “Alt 105.3” KITS San Francisco to Variety Hits “105.3 Dave-FM” at 1pm today.

Positioning as “Totally Random Radio”, core artists are listed as including Prince, Pat Benatar, The Cure, Journey, Nirvana, Huey Lewis and more.

The flip marks the end of Alternative on the 105.3 frequency after 35 years. As “Live 105“, the station completed its evolution from Top 40 to Alternative in 1986 and would keep that branding until being relaunched as “Alt 105.3” in December 2017.

KITS registered a 1.4 share in the September 2021 Nielsen Audio ratings, up from a 1.2 in August. The new format positions the station closer to iHeartMedia’s “103.7 80s+” KOSF with its 3.1 share and Alpha Media’s “94.5 Bay-FM” KBAY San Jose, which registered a 1.4 in San Francisco.

The first hour of “105.3 Dave-FM” featured:

  • Guns N Roses “Welcome To The Jungle”
  • Pointer Sisters “I’m So Excited”
  • Billy Idol “Mony Mony”
  • Hall & Oates “Rich Girl”
  • Blur “Song 2”
  • Kiss “Rock and Roll All Night”
  • Duran Duran “Rio”
  • MC Hammer “Can’t Touch This”
  • Killers “Mr. Brightside”
  • Journey “Don’t Stop Believin'”
  • B-52’s “Love Shack”
  • Clash “Should I Stay or Should I Go”
  • Heart “Magic Man”
  • R.E.M. “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)”
  • Devo “Whip It”

Thank you, Bay Area.
