Norsan Media Expands In Austin

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 2, 2023

Norsan MediaNorsan Media is now operating 104.9 KTXX-FM Bee Cave and 105.3 K287FG Austin TX following the previously announced shut-downs of Sports “104.9 The Horn” and Classic Hits “105.3 The Bat” by Genuine Austin Radio ahead of an upcoming purchase of the stations.

104.9 KTXX-FM has begun simulcasting Regional Mexican “La Raza 95.1” 1530 KZNX Creedmoor/95.1 K236AY Westlake Hills, which Norsan operates via LMA from America Telecommunications Group. The addition of 104.9 KTXX-FM makes it the third full-powered Regional Mexican station in the Austin market joining Waterloo Media’s “La Z 107.1” KLZT and Univision’s “Que Buena 104.3” KLQB.

Sources in the market indicate that 105.3 K287FG/KTXX-HD4 will carry Norsan’s Spanish CHR format.

The Norberto Sanchez led company operates Spanish language stations across the Carolinas and Jacksonville FL in addition to Austin.

Norsan Media, one of the nation’s top Hispanic Media companies providing entertainment and news via radio, television, newspapers, large-scale events, social media and digital marketing in the Southeast, adds new radio stations in the Austin, Texas market.

“The acquisition reflects the advancement of our continued strategic positioning in the Austin, Texas market, to increase market share and establish the base of our multi-channel 360 degree approach to reach the Hispanic audience in the market. Along with our existing Austin station: La Raza 95.1 K236AY-FM/1530 KZNX-AM, these additional frequencies will allow us to serve and embrace the vast and ever-growing multicultural radio audience in Austin.” said Norberto Sanchez, Norsan Media’s CEO.

The format of the station has yet to be released, and the company’s current station: La Raza 95.1 FM/1530 AM will continue to air in Austin. According to Natalia S. Alvarez, President of Norsan Media, the stations will broadcast a super localized content featuring music, entertainment and relevant local news.

The company currently owns and operates Regional Mexican, Latin Urban, Latin Pop/Tropical, Spanish Adult Contemporary/Romántica stations in the Southeast and Austin, TX. The company has a combined reach of over 3 million Hispanics with their coverage in the US. In 2004, NORSAN launched Norsan Media in the Southeast and is based in Charlotte, NC and currently owns over 40 radio stations, 4 TV stations, a weekly regional digital and printed publication, and digital marketing and social media platforms in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Texas.

Norsan Media’s holding company, NORSAN, was founded in 1987 by Norberto Sanchez. He continues to serve as CEO and Chairman of the company. NORSAN currently owns and operates 18 restaurants including Frontera Mexican Kitchen, Luciano’s Ristorante Italiano, Pampas Steakhouse, Frankie’s the Steakhouse, La Capital MX, H&W Steakhouse, Pinto’s Mexican Made Easy concept and operates the 1818 Club. It also owns Prime Meats, a USDA and SOF certified company, including beef and protein processing facilities and a distribution and logistics company that provides high-quality meats to restaurants, grocery stores and other food distributors across half of the US.
