Bloomberg To Take Over Rock 92.9 Boston

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 20, 2024

Bloomberg 92.9 WBOS BostonBloomberg Radio will move in Boston to Beasley Media Group’s 92.9 WBOS-FM Brookline MA starting at 12pm on Tuesday, September 3.

The current Classic Rock “Rock 92.9” programming including the syndicated Dave & Chuck The Freak morning show will move to 1330 WRCA Watertown/106.1 W291CZ Boston and WBOS-HD2. Those stations have carried Bloomberg programming since July 2017.

Beasley Media Northeast Regional Vice President Mary Menna said, “We’re excited to expand our great partnership with a global news and business leader of Bloomberg’s magnitude. This unique programming underscores the company’s commitment to providing our listeners with the very best content and compliments our other Boston brands: 98.5 The Sports Hub, HOT 96.9, WROR 105.7 and Country 102.5.”

Rock 92.9 Alt WBOS Boston Dave Chuck The Freak“This expansion of our partnership with Beasley Media Group will allow us to exponentially expand Bloomberg Radio’s reach in Boston,” said Anthony Mancini, Head of Bloomberg Audio. “Moving to a full market FM frequency will give us the bandwidth we need to have an increased presence in the region, and the capacity to bring even more listeners Bloomberg’s in-depth coverage of the financial markets and beyond.”

Bloomberg programming is also heard on owned & operated 1130 WBBR New York and 1450 WNBP/106.1 W291CC Newburyport MA, Audacy’s 99.1 WDCH Bowie MD/Washington DC and 105.7 WJZ-HD2 Baltimore, iHeartMedia’s 960 KNEW/103.7 KOSF-HD2 San Francisco as well as SiriusXM channel 121 and on DAB in London.

With the move, WBOS-FM Program Director/midday host ‘Adam XII’ Chapman will exit after hosting the final show on 92.9. Adam joined WBOS in 2019 and rose to PD in 2022. He is a stalwart of Boston Rock radio previously in middays at 104.1 WBCN and in multiple runs at 101.7 WFNX. He also spent time at “Mix 104.1” WBMX, 1030 WBZ, and was Production Director and afternoon host for the Boston Globe’s RadioBDC and successor Indie617.com. He also served as MD/midday host earlier in his career at “104.7 The Edge” KTEG Albuquerque.

WBOS ranked sixteenth in the Boston market with a 2.2 share in the July 2024 Nielsen Audio ratings. iHeartMedia’s competing 100.7 WZLX was ninth with a 3.9 share. Bloomberg’s programming on 1330/106.1 received a 0.2 share.
