Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting Talk/Sports 930 WEOL/100.3 W262DM Elyria OH will move its local programming online in the coming days.
The co-owned Chronicle-Telegram reports that WEOL’s license is being sold to Catholic operator St. Peter the Rock Media. The buyer operates “1260 The Rock” WCCR Cleveland. The new streaming version of WEOL will focus on community news and sports.
Elyria-Lorain President Bill Hudnutt said, “As we’re looking to move things forward, digital is the place where radio’s going, the same way it is for a lot of traditional media. It’s taking a leap, of course, but at the same time, what we’re looking to do is not unheard of.” He continued, “There’s a lot of equity in the WEOL brand, we’ve been around for over 75 years. The heart and soul (of the station) is local sports and community news and we can still carry the mission forward doing it online.”
WEOL currently carries a mix of syndicated Talk and Fox Sports Radio programming with high school and Cleveland professional sports.
