Renda Broadcasting AC “Sunny 94.1” WSOS which recently moved from Saint Augustine, FL to the Jacksonville suburb of Fruit Cove flipped to “Classic Rock 94.1” at 4:00pm today.
The new format takes WSOS out of competition with sister market leading AC “Lite 96.1” WEJZ and positions it between Cox’s Rock leaning Classic Hits “96.9 The Eagle” WJGL and “Rock 104.5” WFYV.
WSOS rimshots Jacksonville from 20 miles to the south but is deficient in northern portions of the market.
The first hour of “Classic Rock 94.1” consisted of:
AC/DC – For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)
Van Halen – Oh, Pretty Woman
Aerosmith – Dude (Looks Like A Lady)
Blue Oyster Cult – Burnin’ For You
Led Zeppelin – Fool In The Rain
Def Leppard – Photograph
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Foxey Lady
Guns N’ Roses – Paradise City
Black Sabbath – Paranoid
George Thorogood & The Destroyers – I Drink Alone
Alice Cooper – School’s Out
Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
Lynyrd Skynyrd – Sweet Home Alabama
Heart – Barracuda
Hands-down the best classic rock station I’ve heard, period. I spend my “home time” in either Tampa or Jax and there are obviously a couple good classic rock stations in each, but none compare to the line-up I listened to this past weekend. While, I doubt 52 minutes commercial free each hour can sustain a station, for now, there will be no channel-surfing on my part even when the music’s not playing – it’s just not worth missing what might be next.
I never roam that far down into the Fm band as it’s always crap. , But lo and behold, there she be… SOS. Only thing that would make it better would to un fomat it,,,( Too many repeats) Does anyone from the north remember WABX out of Detroit? Now that would be the ultimate even if it lasted 6 months
