iHeartMedia has completed the shift of Classic Rock “93.7 The River” KYRV Sacramento CA to 1980s based Classic Hits.
Now positioning as “Sacramento’s Greatest Hits”, the move fills the vacant Classic Hits hole in the market while taking the station out of direct format competition with Audacy’s “96.9 The Eagle” KSEG. With the move comes a new on-air lineup for the station which now features WRFY Reading PA’s Bob Hauer in mornings, “The Martha Quinn Show” in middays, KJEB Seattle’s Chris ‘Sarge’ Sargent in afternoons, and Michelle Fay at night.
The 9am hour today featured:
- Cyndi Lauper – All Through The Night
- Eagles – Hotel California
- Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)
- Michael Jackson – Rock With You
- The Outfield – Your Love
- Jimmy Buffett – Margaritaville
- Ace of Base – The Sign
- Bon Jovi – Wanted Dead or Alive
- Billy Joel – My Life
- Pat Benatar – Love Is A Battlefield
KYRV ranked eleventh in the Sacramento market with a 4.0 share in the March 2026 Nielsen Audio ratings. KSEG led the market with an 8.4 share.
The move also makes KYRV the 600th affiliate for Premiere Networks’ “Casey Kasem’s American Top 40“, which will air “American Top 40 – The 80’s” on Sunday mornings from 8am to 12pm starting May 10.
Premiere Networks’ EVP of Affiliate Sales Peter Tripi said, “This milestone is a testament to the enduring legacy of Casey Kasem and the timeless appeal of American Top 40. These classic shows continue to resonate with audiences of all ages, and we’re thrilled to welcome 93.7 The River as the latest station to bring this iconic countdown experience to its listeners.”

A Whitney Houston fan closer to me wondered how much of her material fits into the new format. I replied “that’s usually a station-by-station call.” Any ideas?
