Townsquare Media Country 99.5 WKDQ Henderson KY/Evansville IN Brand Manager and morning host Travis Sams will exit the station on Friday, September 4 for a position outside of radio.

Sams has held his current roles since January 2024 after previously serving as cluster Promotions Director and WKDQ afternoon host. During his Kiss 106 tenure at the company, Sams also hosted middays on both WKDQ and CHR “Kiss 106” WBKS.

In a blog post announcing his departure, Sams wrote, “I’m a kid from Boonville, Indiana, who grew up listening to 99.5 WKDQ. Never in my wildest dreams would I have bet money that one day, I’d be one of those people on air and doing some of the things that I have done throughout my career. In reality, this job has given me much more than a paycheck. So, it’s bittersweet to announce that this will be my last week on air for WKDQ.”

Sams’ co-host Lori Mae, whom he recruited back to radio last fall, remains with the station. In his farewell post, Sams noted that he was working at a Pizza Chef in Boonville IN in 2014, when a co-worker introduced him to then WKDQ MD/afternoon host Eric Cornish which led to him becoming an intern and getting hired at the station. That Pizza Chef co-worker was Lori Mae, who had previously co-hosted mornings at the station from 2006-09.
