Last Frontier Mediactive has announced the addition of McConnell Adams to its team with on-air roles at CHR “98.1 K-Wolf” KWLF Fairbanks and Rhythmic AC “Movin 105.7” KMVN Anchorage AK.
Adams most recently served as Program Director for Cumulus Media AC “B98.5” KURB and CHR “Alice 107.7” KLAL Little Rock until exiting in the company’s August layoffs. It marks a return to Fairbanks where he previously served as PD/morning host at KWLF. He has also held roles including Operations Manager for Delta Radio Network Greenville MS, Director of Content for Townsquare Media Lansing MI and morning host at CHR “Now 97.5” WJIM-FM, afternoon host at iHeartMedia CHR 101.3 KGOT Anchorage AK, PD of Summit City Radio Fort Wayne, APD at KKDA-FM Dallas, WIOG Saginaw MI, and WKPK Traverse City MI, and on-air at WDRQ and WHYT Detroit.
Adams said, “From literally being on the beach in Puerto Rico to stepping back on the air in Alaska—wait, it’s already snowing?! All jokes aside, Alaska has been a huge part of my life for ten years, and I’m blessed and honored to rejoin this team. A massive thank you to Perry Walley for welcoming me back. It’s rare to find a broadcast team with a culture that truly puts local community first while backing innovation and hard work. I can’t wait to get to work.”
In a memo to staff shared, COO Perry Walley commented, “McConnell will be based in Anchorage and will continue his on-air roles with KMVN and KWLF, while also taking on additional responsibilities across our stations and helping us continue to grow our brands. McConnell brings a tremendous amount of experience, creativity, and professionalism to our company. More importantly, he genuinely cares about radio and the future of local radio. He understands that what makes our stations successful goes far beyond the music we play. It’s about being connected to our communities, creating great local content, supporting our advertisers, engaging our listeners, and making our stations matter every day. In his expanded role, McConnell will be involved in a variety of areas, including on-air programming, station imaging and branding, music, promotions, social media, digital content, contests, and overall brand development. He’ll be working on projects for both our Anchorage and Fairbanks markets to help strengthen the sound, image, and presence of our stations. McConnell is a true radio professional who brings energy, ideas, and a passion for doing things the right way. I’m excited about what he can bring to our company and LOCAL RADIO in Alaska.”
