Hall Communications Classic Hits “Kool 101” 100.9 WKNL New London, CT flipped to Hot AC “100.9 Roxy-FM“.
After bidding adieu with a block of goodbye songs culminating in Donna Summer’s “Last Dance”, the station debuted the new format at 12am. The first five songs on “100.9 Roxy-FM” included Fun “Some Nights”, Matchbox 20 “Real World”, Bruno Mars “Grenade”, The Fray “Out Of My Head”, and Alex Clare “Too Close”. The new format eliminates overlap between WKNL and sister “Classic Hits 98.7” WNLC. WNLC and WKNL are joined by Talk/Standards 1310 WICH, News/Talk 1400 WILI, Country 97.7 WCTY, and CHR “I98.3” WILI-FM in Hall’s Eastern Connecticut cluster.
So what happened to so what happened to guys like Jim Reed Is he still on the air and the same for all of the other DJ’s???
No wonder I couldn’t find Kool 101. I’ve been looking for 3 days. Was ready to blame my son for messing up my stations. I loved the banter with Jim Reed, the ability to call in for various reasons…and the music was not too hard on these old ears. Local road information and local weather was a big help to me to traveling to and from work. Now I have to tune into Bridgeport or West Hartford. Doesn’t help me much between Westbrook and New London. And just where is Jim Ree????
