Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has announced the acquisition of three stations from the proposed Astral/Bell merger.
From Bell the group has acquired Rhythmic AC “Kool 101.5” CKBE Calgary and Classic Hits “Fab 94.3” CHIQ Winnipeg. Coming from Astral is Country “QX 104” 104.1 CFQX. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. The sale is contingent on CRTC approval of this and the Astral/Bell merger.
Pattison will soon be launching AAA “95.3 The Peak” CHPK in Calgary.
“This is a very important acquisition for our Broadcast Group and, with the approval of this transaction from the CRTC, we will expand our presence in the major markets of Calgary and Winnipeg, which we have been focusing on for some time,” said Rick Arnish, chairman of Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, in a press statement.
