The AAA format of WMVY will return to Martha’s Vineyard, MA in early 2014.
After selling their 92.7 signal to Boston University in late 2012 and becoming a listener supported webcaster, the management of the station have acquired a new signal for the station.
Friends of MVYRadio, LLC has agreed to acquire 88.7 WMEX Edgartown, MA from Vineyard Public Radio for $450,000. WMEX is currently licensed with 250 watts at 66 meters with a Construction Permit to increase to 420 watts at 92 meters. Part of the sale agreement will have MVYRadio apply to modify that CP to another tower site in Tisbury, MA.
The station hopes to be back on the air by the Spring of 2014. Since the sign-off of the former terrestrial signal in February, the WMVY call letters have been claimed by the former 104.3 WMXR Hartford, VT.
