Clear Channel Rhythmic CHR “Wild 107.5” KXJM Portland has relaunched as “Jam’n 107.5“.
Now positioning itself as “Jams from Today & Back in the Day”, the station is adding gold component to its library.
The station is promoting itself as featuring “today’s hottest rhythmic hits including Drake, Jason Derulo, Chris Brown, Jay Z, Beyonce, Mackelmore, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Flo Rida while also embraceing its Hip Hop and R&B legacy, with jams from back in the day like Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 2 Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube, Ja Rule, Ludacris, 50 Cent, Aaliyah and more”.
“We’re excited to bring back JAM’N for Portland listeners,” said Mark Adams, VP/Programming, Clear Channel Portland. “We’re keeping all of the things our listeners loved about Wild, while embracing the musical heritage of the JAM’N brand in Portland.”
“By bringing JAM’N back to town, we are meeting a need for a musical genre that is not being adequately met in the market right now,” said Robert Dove, Market President, Clear Channel Portland. “This is the perfect station for listeners who love Hip Hop and R&B from back in the day as well as the newest rhythmic hits. It’s the both of best worlds.”
The Jammin moniker resided in Portland on 95.5 from 1999 until May 2008 when Rose City Radio flipped the station to Sports. A week later CBS acquired the “Jammin” brand and KXJM calls and placed them on what was 107.5 KQMV. Following a sale to Clear Channel later that year, the station then rebranded as “Wild 107.5” in March 2010.
Ha, I knew something was up! I listened a couple weeks ago and they kept running sweepers saying “Wild 107.5 is Jammin’.”
This is the first time I’ve seen them use the Jam’n 94.5 Boston logo elsewhere, interesting…
Clear Channel may soon launch more “Jam’n” clones, with the same logo.
Back before Chancellor had to divest 92.1 KJMN Castle Rock/Denver to buy Evergreen Media in the late 90s, it aired a “Jam’n”-branded rhythmic format. It didn’t last long, as KJMN was sold to Z-Spanish (Entravision’s predecessor) and flipped to Spanish AC.
How about one in rhythmically challenged Minneapolis-St. Paul? Please, at least on a translator!
Now for KUBE to do the same!
