Update 3/18: Following last week’s announcement of a revised on-air lineup, Entercom Sports “95.7 The Game” KGMZ San Francisco has announced that former San Francisco Giant Aubrey Huff will join the station’s new morning show with Ric Bucher and Chris Townsend on Monday, March 31.
95.7 The GAME (KGMZ-FM), the Bay Area’s New Sound for Sports, announced today a major new addition to their recently launched morning show. Starting Monday, March 31st, two-time World Series Champion and former San Francisco Giant Aubrey Huff joins the morning team of Ric Bucher and Chris Townsend. Huff, who retired from baseball in 2013, previously played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, and San Francisco Giants.
“Last week, we announced a new lineup for The GAME; since then, we’ve been fortunate enough to add one of the most entertaining sports personalities in the Bay Area to our team. It’s hard to improve on the ‘perfect team in the perfect time slot,’ but adding Aubrey Huff does just that,” said Jason Barrett, Program Director for 95.7 The Game. “Make no mistake—this morning show will be different, more informed, and more colorful than any other in the market. Steve DiNardo and I couldn’t be more excited about this unique team going forward for listeners and advertisers alike.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to join 95.7 The Game. I had an incredible experience in San Francisco, being a part of two World Championship Giants teams, and now I’m looking forward to joining my brand new team in the Bay Area,” said Huff.
“It’s an absolute honor to add a two-time World Series champion to our show. If you think he was funny with the press after games, just wait until you hear what he has to offer daily on 95.7 The GAME! Most professional athletes never envision themselves being a part of the media, but on March 31st, we welcome Aubrey to the dark side. I just hope he doesn’t expect Bucher and I to wear a thong during the show,” said new co-host Chris Townsend. Huff was known for wearing a red “rally thong” during the Giants’ 2010 historic playoff run.
Bucher, a 20-year Bay Area native, joined 95.7 The GAME for afternoons in 2012, having previously served as a Bay Area-based NBA reporter for ESPN’s SportsCenter and NBA studio shows as well as a senior writer covering professional basketball for ESPN The Magazine. In addition to his hosting duties, Bucher is currently the Golden State Warriors’ sideline reporter and an NBA insider for Comcast SportsNet, and he also writes for the NBA beat on Bleacher Report. Townsend, a 14-year Bay Area native, previously hosted The Pulse and The Chris Townsend Show as well as the pre-game Dugout Show and the post-game A’s Talk shows on 95.7 The GAME.
95.7 The GAME is the largest radio market FM sports station in California and the flagship radio station for the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders.
